Our Journey
Velco Elevator Company Private Limited was registered in February 2017, marking the beginning of an ambitious journey to professionalize and elevate Zimbabwe’s vertical transportation sector. Our early operations focused on resuscitation and modernization projects, supporting clients with the repair and revival of aging elevator systems. Over time, our services expanded to include full installations of new elevators at various sites across the country.
As our reputation for excellence grew, so did our client base. We secured long-term maintenance contracts, broadened our portfolio of technical expertise, and strengthened our capacity to serve industries with diverse elevator needs. Today, Velco stands as a respected and reliable engineering company built on safety, innovation, integrity, and continuous value delivery.

Our Management Team
Mr. Leonard Butao
Managing Director / Responsible Person
Mr. Butao is an NCC Class 1 Lift Mechanic and Otis Elevators trained Lift Engineer with 35 years of experience in the elevator industry. He holds an advanced Electrical Diploma from the Institute of City and Guilds in the United Kingdom and has worked extensively across Zimbabwe, South Africa, Botswana, and Eswatini. Known for reviving near-obsolete lifts and exceeding safety requirements under RGN 288 of 1976, he has trained many apprentices who now work for reputable international companies. He also has a strong background in labour representation from his time as a trade unionist at Otis Elevators.
Engineer Lameck Mashambanhaka
Director
Engineer Mashambanhaka is an experienced Electrical Engineer with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and professional certifications including Cisco Routing. He gained hands-on exposure to the elevator industry during his attachment at Otis Elevators and has since accumulated extensive technical operations experience both inside and outside Zimbabwe, making him a valuable contributor to Velco’s engineering and operational excellence.
Pelagia Dick
Accountant
Pelagia brings 18 years of experience and a strong academic background in accounting, tourism, business studies, and aviation ticketing systems. Her qualifications include a Bachelor of Accounts, ACCA Part 1 and 2, diplomas in Accounting and Tourism from ICM-UK, and certification in the Amadeus Airline System. She oversees financial operations with precision, efficiency, and strong compliance.
Rejoice Mandianike
Administration and HSE Officer
With more than 17 years of administrative experience in the elevator industry, Rejoice plays a key role in ensuring efficient internal operations and safety compliance. She holds an Advanced Diploma in Safety, Health and Environment and an Advanced Diploma in Private Secretarial Studies, bringing professionalism and strong HSE awareness to Velco’s operations.
Patrick Tsvetu
Marketing and Human Resources Officer
Patrick is an experienced business professional who has served as General Manager in the elevator, renewable energy, and insurance industries. He has also held various senior positions including Operations Manager and Business Development Manager. With qualifications in Marketing Management and Business Leadership, as well as membership in the Internal Auditors’ Institute, Patrick leads Velco’s marketing and human capital development initiatives with strategic insight and strong industry knowledge.
